“Cross Cultural Effectiveness”

Ten Keys to Developing Intercultural Literacy

 

·        Are cultural differences leading to miscommunication, misunderstandings or missed deadlines where you work?

·        Do you work for a foreign company where it’s challenging to influence the expatriate and other foreign-born executives?

·        Do you serve senior managers who lack the “intercultural literacy” required to lead global operations and multinational teams? 

·        Are you able to shift your communication style to accommodate and develop relationships with people whose communication styles are neither American nor Western?     


Human Resource professionals in global companies must increasingly acquire not only skills and experience in handling the operational issues that arise, but develop cross-cultural competence to fulfill the roles of strategic partner and employee champion.  That competence starts with a self-awareness of how your culture has influenced your own values, beliefs, behavior, leadership, and communication style.

Carolyn Feuille has many years of international work experience in the U.S., Europe and Japan.  She has lived in Bogotá, Colombia and several regions of France.  As a training consultant and business coach, she has developed and delivered learning programs for executives, engineers, first line managers/supervisors, and Human Resources from all over the world in both English and French with such clients as Hewlett-Packard, LSI Logic, JDS Uniphase, Cadence Design Systems, CelPril, and Impax Laboratories.  A few examples of her work and expertise include: preparing expatriate managers and spouses for a successful international assignment and living experience, preparing the Japanese operations of a semiconductor company to obtain ISO 9000 certification, developing multicultural self-directed work teams, executive teambuilding, and coaching HR executives on HR leadership.
